No frills airliner Trujet of Turbo Megha Airways has announced the launch of Hyderabad-Mysore flight under the regional connectivity scheme.
A promoter of regional connectivity, the airline covers unserved sectors, including Nanded and Kadapa, and has now added Mysore. This is part of the UDAN scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which seeks to boost regional connectivity.
Vankayalapati Umesh, Managing Director, Turbo Megha Airways, said: “Air connectivity to Mysore from Hyderabad is part of the efforts to connect the under served cities with the big metros. We hope this will contribute towards the overall economic growth.”
Turbo Megha is one of the five air operators which won bids to operate on 128 routes connecting 70 airports, of which 31 are unserved under the regional connectivity scheme - Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN). Under the scheme, fares are capped at Rs 2,500 for one-hour flights.
The airline currently operates a set of ATR-72 aircraft and has acquired the fourth one of the same type. The latest aircraft will operate in the new sectors. Under the regional connectivity, the airline operates services between Hyderabad-Mysore, Hyderabad-Kadapa and Hyderabad-Nanded.
Trujet will soon connect Hyderabad to the city of Vidyanagar, thus providing an easy travel to Bellary and the historic city of Hampi.
The airliner currently operates to 11 cities namely Hyderabad, Aurangabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Nanded, Kadapa, Mysore and Tirupati. It is also the only airline to operate on Hyderabad-Aurangabad route, providing access to Shirdi.
