Tea companies in the Nilgiris district have reported that their production in May has increased to 1.70 mkg from 0.68 mkg, an increase of 150 per cent. The 5-year mean production for May was 1.19 mkg. The cumulative production in the five months rose to 6.61 mkg from 4.28 mkg, a growth of 54.44 per cent. The 5-year mean production for January-May was 5.46 mkg.
