Crude oil futures rose Rs 37 to Rs 4,627 per barrel today as participants widened their bets owing to a firm trend in Asian markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 37 or 0.81 per cent at Rs 4,627 per barrel with a business turnover of 44 lots. August contract also moved up by Rs 22 or 0.47 per cent to Rs 4,721 per barrel with a business volume of 1,700 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in crude oil futures to raising of bets by participants in line with a firm global trend.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for August delivery soared 0.13 per cent to trade at $68.33 a barrel while Brent crude was up 0.28 per cent at $72.78 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
