Energy sector stock GAIL (India) and Tata Power, besides financial institutions Axis Bank and HDFC were among the top gainers on the BSE on Wednesday morning. The markets recovered their composure today after falling sharply yesterday. A further drop in April inflation numbers to 4.87 per cent has revived hopes for another rate cut by the RBI.
At 10.25 am GAIL (India) led the pack on the bourse, trading at Rs 378.45, up 3.19 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 366.75.
Axis Bank traded up 2.98 per cent to quote at Rs 548.60 as against Rs 532.75 at close yesterday.
M&M rolled up 2.92 per cent to quote at Rs 1,210.60. The scrip had closed the previous session at Rs 1,176.25.
Tata Power was trading at Rs 73.25 as against Rs 71.50 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 2.45 per cent.
HDFC built gains of 2.33 per cent to trade at Rs 1,219 as against Rs 1,191.20 at close overnight.
