Extending its recent uptrend, GAIL (India) made a strong start to emerge the top gainer on the BSE on Thursday. At 11.05 am it held gains of 2.81 per cent at ₹422 as against ₹410.45 at close on Monday.
Among the other predominant gainers during the session were metal and banking stocks. Sesa Sterlite rode up 1.98 per cent to quote at ₹286. The stock had closed the overnight session at ₹280.45.
Hindalco Industries gained 1.78 per cent to trade at ₹183.20 as against ₹180 at close on Wednesday.
ICICI Bank was trading at ₹1,473.80. This represented a 1.50 per cent gain on its previous close at ₹1,452.
HDFC Bank was trading at ₹824.50 as against ₹812.35 at close on Wednesday. This was also a gain of 1.50 per cent.
