The SBI is aiming at becoming a totally digital bank in the next five years and making efforts in that direction, according to Hardayal Prasad, the Chief General Manager in charge of AP and Telangana.

He was speaking here on Tuesday after inaugurating the second SBI INTOUCH hi-tech branch. He said the branch would have all the facilities for the customers such as video conferencing, ATM, CDM, and others available throughout day and night in a separate enclave and the rest of the branch would function from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. "It will be a digital branch in which the customer can open an account all by himself or herself, take out the passbook, deposit or withdraw cash, and also get wealth management advice. There will only be a manager and another employee to assist the customers," he explained.

He said it was the second such branch in Vizag and more would be opened depending on the public response. "We have at present four such branches in Hyderabad and two more will be added before the end of the month. This week we opened one branch at Warangal in Telangana. In AP, two more branches will be opened this month at Guntur and Anantapur. In Vijayawada, we are in search of a suitable location for a branch," he said.

Hardayal Prasad also opened an ordinary SBI branch at Chinamushidiwada in the city on Tuesday.
