The staff of 56 regional rural banks (gramin banks), which have thousands of branches across the country, will go on a three-day strike starting July 27.
The strike, called by the United Forum of Gramin Bank Unions, is to protest the alleged move by the Centre to privatise the RRBs and also to press for a pension scheme for the staff. The unions also the want the government to dump the Mitra Committee report which had recommended huge cuts in staff strength at branches.
