Prime Minister Narendra Modi will campaign in Chennai on May 6 in support of the BJP’s candidates contesting in the forthcoming elections.
At a public meeting in YMCA Ground, Modi will introduce the party’s candidates contesting the elections to be held on May 16, according to Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman.
Out of the 234 Assembly constituencies at stake in Tamil Nadu, the BJP will contest in 164. Of the remaining, it has allotted 45 to its ally Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi; 24 to Akila Indiya Makkal Kalvi Munnetra Kazhagam and one to Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam.
What TN needs Campaigning in support of the party’s Saidapet constituency candidate V Kalidas, Sitharaman urged voters to bring in a BJP government in Tamil Nadu. This would lead to development and prosperity like other BJP-ruled States, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, she said.
Kalidas, accompanied by Sitharaman, later went on to file his nomination papers.
