Symbiosis School of Media and Communication (SSMC) - Bengaluru in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) organised Yamini, an all-night Indian classical music and dance concert on the lawns of the Symbiosis International University (SIU), Bengaluru.
SSMC Director, Prof Vikram Sampath, along with the CEO of Electronic City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA), N S Rama, inaugurated the event.
Renowned flautist Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia flagged off the event with his mellifluous flute rendition of Raag maru bihag in Rupak Taal, Teen Taal and Raga Pilu. This was his third special dedication on the occasion of Independence Day.
A Carnatic vocal rendition by Magsaysay awardee Vidwan T M Krishna’s performance concluded the all-night concert. This was followed by unfurling of the tricolor on the campus.
Acknowledged Chitravina player Vidwan N Ravikiran, celebrated Hindustani classical vocalist Pt Venkatesh Kumar, and renowned Kathakali exponent Shri Kottakkal Chandrashekharan were the other artists who enthralled the audience with their performances.
