The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries meets in Vienna on Friday to decide output policy amid calls from top consumers such as the United States, China and India to cool down oil prices and support the world economy by producing more crude.

Bengaluru Metro will get its first six-coach train. The train will be operated on the Purple Line (Baiyappanahalli to Mysuru Road). The six-coach train is expected to bring big relief to lakhs of passengers who have been complaining about the trains being jam-packed, especially during the peak hours. The carrying capacity of the extended train is close to 2,000 passengers and it can be operated at a speed of 80 kmph.

The European Union 's 25 per cent import duties on a range of US products will kick-in today. The EU move is in response to US tariffs put on EU steel and aluminium early this month. The United States, after imposing punitive tariffs on a number of its top trading partners, this week threatened China with further duties on $200 billion worth of trade, escalating a conflict that has already drawn retaliatory steps from around the world.
