Higher import duties on 29 US products is likely to come into effect from today. The government, had on June 21, decided to hike the import duties after Trump administration announcement of imposition of duties on certain steel and aluminium products, earlier this year, which had a tariff implications of Rs 241 mn on India. Earlier, the higher duty was supposed to come into effect on August 4.

The North and the South Koreas will hold key summit today in Pyongyang. The meeting will see discussions on the practical measures towards denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula. Today’s meeting will be the third meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un and South Korean leader Moon Jae-in. The summit will also break the impasse between US and the North Korea over dismantling of the latter’s nuclear programme site.

HCL Technologies buyback will open today. HCL Tech will offer a share buyback worth Rs 4,000 cr and will remain open till Oct 3. The buyback proposal, approved by the shareholders last month, will be done on a proportionate basis through tender offer of Rs 1,100 per share.

Private carrier SpiceJet will launch its dedicated cargo services from today. Called the SpiceXpress will begin its services between Delhi and Bengaluru. With this service, SpiceJet becomes the first domestic airliner to launch a dedicated freighter service in the country.
