The Chennai-based healthcare tech start-up, vTitan, which makes smart infusion pumps, is in talks with government agencies to which it hopes to market its product.

Perinkulam Kasthuri, co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are in talks with government agencies, both at the Centre and the State, to install our smart infusion pumps in government hospitals.”

The company has two patented syringe infusion pumps — IBP-550 and SP-550 – that work on the closed-loop motion technology.

This ensures accuracy of medicine delivery, consumes less power and reduces heat, improving system efficiency and life of the product. The pumps are priced at ₹45,000 ( with an integrated battery pack) and ₹35,000 (for hospitals with uninterrupted power supply).

Kasthuri said, “the government can be a big differentiator” which can help the company scale up its operations.

Expansion plans

The company is currently focussing on New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai for expansion.

Kasthuri said through partnership with the government it should be able to reach more cities.

So far, vTitan has installed infusion pumps in 12 hospitals in Chennai and aims to take it to 3,500 in the coming years through private and government partnership.

vTitan is now looking to raise funds for expanding its operations, increasing work force and building a new factory. The company is also expanding its distribution network and setting up service centres in different parts of India.

“We are also hiring our own sales and service engineers to ensure that service is available at all times to our customers,” he added.

The company is also looking to add more researchers as it expands the product pipeline.

“We are planning to develop products for dialysis, patient monitoring and ventilators and we want more research and development engineers to build these products,” Kasthuri said.

The company is expected to have a team of 400 engineers by 2020. Currently, it has close to 100 employees.
