The fourth edition of the India International Coir Fair (IICF) 2016 is scheduled between July 15 and 18 at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore.

Coir Board Chairman C P Radhakrishnan told presspersons here this morning that participants from across the sector would for the first time be participating in the mega event.

Products on display would range from traditional floor covering material, improvised floor covering material, coir pith and value-added products made from the pith, coir garden articles and handicraft items, coir wood and geo textiles.

Close to 100 exhibitors, with major participants from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, have confirmed their participation, Radhakrishnan said.

The Board is also planning theme pavilions to showcase recent developments, live demonstrations of technology, processes and applications and a buyer-seller meet at the four-day expo.

Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra is to inaugurate IICF 2016.

The board plans to flag off ‘Coir Kranti Express’ on the concluding day of the fair. This van with a display of the entire range of coir products would pass through almost all the states for 120 days before reaching Kochi. It aims to create awareness about coir products, and would be a platform for enrolment of franchisees for sale of coir products, Radhakrishnan said.
