A meeting of the Congress legislative party leaders, State presidents, AICC general secretaries and in-charges of various States with party’s president Rahul Gandhi has decided to hold a campaign against the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Rafale scam.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, media in-charge of the party Randeep Singh Surjewala said Rafale scam was discussed in detail in the meeting.

He said the party workers will hold district level demonstrations on the issue to ensure that a JPC probe into the Rafale scam is announced. “We will push the Government, we will not stop, we will not be deterred and we will continue to push for ensuring that the Rafale scam and corruption scams are exposed,” Surjewala said.

Discrimination against Kerala

Surjewala said the Congress believes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should stop discriminating in matters of flood relief between BJP and non-BJP Governments. “Only mere ₹ 100 crore has been given to people of Kerala, while there is absolute devastation. It is time that Modi must rise above political partisan game and come forward as a nation to help people of Kerala, people of Karnataka and other States affected by the flood and declare Kerala floods as a national calamity,” Surjewala said.

The meeting, he said, noted with concern the grave situation arising out of floods in Kerala, Karnataka and as also rest of the country. “It was also decided by Congress President and all others that all Congress MPs – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – all Congress MLAs across India, all Congress MLCs across India will donate one month salary, which will be sent through the AICC for relief measures in Kerala,” he said.
