To promote green building concept, Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) Kerala chapter has joined hands with FACT RCF Building Products Ltd. (FRBL) for using glass fibre reinforced gypsum (GFRG) panels in building construction.
FRBL is a joint venture of Fertilisers And Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) and Mumbai-based Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd (RCF). ,
The agreement was signed between Najeeb Zackeria, Chairman, CREDAI Kerala and C. P. Dinesh, MD, FRBL, in the presence of Local Self-Government Minister K. T. Jaleel. CREDAI Kerala, which has 168 members, will encourage its members to use gypsum boards for construction.
The gypsum panel, manufactured by using Australian technology, is approved by the Building Materials Technology Promotion Council. IIT Madras has been conducting research on GFRG panels since last 13 years and they are supporting FRBL and BMTPC in all design related aspects, including publishing design and construction manual. The State Government has also started using the products extensively in its projects.
According to Dinesh, FRBL Gypwall is fast gaining acceptance in the society due to its minimal usage of natural resources and maximum savings in the construction time.
