The Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board has approved proposals of Tata Chemicals Ltd for a prebiotics plant and Tremag Alloys for setting up magnesium ingots manufacturing unit in the State.

The SIPB meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday granted approval for setting up of these two mega projects, according to a statement.

Tremag Alloys Private Ltd and Tata Chemicals Ltd have been allowed to manufacture magnesium ingots and prebiotics respectively.

Kadapa industrial park Tremag Alloys is setting up a manufacturing unit for magnesium ingots in the Kadapa Mega Industrial Park on a 100-acre site with a total investment of ₹660 crore.

The company indicated that the project will provide direct employment to over 1,200 persons and indirect employment to 6,000.

The first phase of the project will commence in November 2018 and the second from May 2019. The company expects a turnover of ₹800 crore.

This is the first such project in India to use Pidgeon process to produce magnesium ingots.

This technology is used primarily for steel, auto, aviation industries.

Under the second project, Tata Chemicals Ltd is setting up a prebiotics plant to manufacture fructo-oligosaccharides and galacto-oligosaccharides powders.

The plant will come up in the APIIC Industrial Park, Mambattu Village, Tada Mandal, Nellore district on a 40-acre site with a total investment of ₹400 crore.

Production likely next year The company has indicated an expected turnover of ₹183 crore by 2021 and hopes to provide direct employment to 150 people and indirect employment to 80 members.

While the plant is expected to be completed in two phases, production is likely to start in December 2018.
