The Odisha government said Sunday that financial assistance of up to Rs 1.02 lakh would be given to people for repairing houses damaged by Cyclone ’Titli’ and the subsequent floods earlier this month.
Deputy Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra said the assistance will be given to the people for damaged houses as well as livestock as per the norms of the Odisha Relief Code.
As per the state’s estimates, 57,131 houses have been damaged in the twin calamities that left at least 61 people dead and 10 missing.
While an aid of Rs 1,01,900 will be given for damage of a house in hilly areas, Rs 95,100 will be given for those in the plains for rebuilding activity, Mohapatra said.
For partially damaged houses, the affected people will get Rs 5,200 for pucca houses, Rs 3,200 for kuchcha ones and Rs 4,100 for huts, Mohapatra told reporters.
This apart, Rs 2,000 will be given for loss of utensils and Rs 1,800 for clothes damaged in the calamity, he said.
Similarly, financial assistance will also be given for loss of livestock at the rate of Rs 30,000 for a cow and Rs 25,000 for an ox. In this case, compensation will be given for a maximum of three animals per family, he said.
For demostic animals like goat and sheep, assistance of Rs 3,000 per family will be provided. Similarly, assistance of Rs 50 per family will be provided for loss of poultry animals with a cap of Rs 5,000, Mohapatra said.
Mohapatra said power supply has been restored in Ganjam and Rayagada districts, while the same would be completed in Gajapati district by October 23.
