President of India Pranab Mukherjee has urged the Human Resources Development Ministry to take expeditious steps to fill up the teaching vacancies in Central universities, 38 per cent of which are lying vacant.
Addressing the Second Convocation of the Central University of Rajasthan at Kishangarhon on Tuesday, Mukherjee said economic growth depended on successful mobilisation of the knowledge economy, which in turn had its basis in a robust education system.
The President called upon the Central University of Rajasthan to develop a strong innovation culture, which was key to progress and prosperity.
Mukherjee, who also inaugurated an innovation exhibition, said the country needed to equip innovators to face global competition by giving their innovations modern shape and form.
