RPG-owned tyre manufacturing brand CEAT is the title sponsor for the inaugural edition of Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT). With this new association, the league will be called CEAT UTT, India’s first ever professional table tennis League.
“Table Tennis is a very dynamic sport and we are very happy to come on board as the title sponsor for Ultimate Table Tennis.I am sure that with the right kind of backing and exposure, their performances in other major international events will be impacted positively,” Anant Goenka, MD, CEAT Limited said.
Vita Dani, league owner, CEAT UTT said: “This is another boost in our endeavour to bring about a revolution in table tennis and help the sport grow to greater echelons in India”.
CEAT Ultimate Table Tennis will be held from 13-30 July in Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. The league will have 24 Indians as well as 24 world-class international players competing against one another through six clubs.
Star India is the broadcast partner. The league has a franchise-based business model. Each team owner has invested ₹2.6 crore for the franchise in a 10-year deal.
The winner of the league will take home ₹1 crore in prize money from a total purse of ₹3 crore.
The five franchises currently on board for the inaugural season are Dabang Smashers TTC owned by Radha Kapoor Khanna of Dolt Sports, RP-SG Mavericks by Sanjiv Goenka of RP-SG Group, Maharashtra United by Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan of Rajesh Wadhawan Group, ASK TTC owned by Sameer Koticha of ASK Group and Oilmax Stag Yoddhas by Kapil Garg and Vivek Kohli.
