Steel Authority of India Ltd has further fine-tuned its incentive scheme for key customers in an effort to beat the emerging competition from the private sector's new steel facilities and minimise the adverse impact of a possible postponement of investment in large projects in the context of the elections early next year. The new scheme will take effect from January 1, 1996. . There is a renewed commitment on the part of SAIL not to take recourse to price hikes for more than twice a year under normal circumstances

Targets missed for want of funds: IDPL

The ailing public sector undertaking Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd (IDPL) has blamed the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers for its inability to achieve the production and sales target for 1995-96. Though the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals was never convinced that the undertaking would be able to achieve its target, the management is of the opinion that it was due to the delayed release of non-plan working capital.

Let's not obstruct KFC: Singh Deo

The Union Minister for Food Processing, Mr. K. P. Singh Deo, has said that any food processing company which has been given permission by the Government should be allowed to carry on its business as long as it does not violate the law of the land. Answering queries from the media, the Minister said Kentucky Fried Chicken was given permission to start operations in the country in 1988 and should be allowed to operate if it fulfills all legal obligations.
