The rise of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has forced several companies that had Isis as a brand name, probably drawn from the Egyptian goddess who was revered as an ideal mother and a wife.
A 90-year-old Belgian brand of chocolates by that name now is called Libeert, after the family that owns the company. More ironic is the fact that its name change came just 10 months after it had changed its name to Isis from Italo Suisse.
Other firms that changed their names include a mobile wallet system, now called Softcard, and an equity firm that now calls itself Living Bridge.
