The Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 is one of the largest automotive events in the world with participation from manufacturers across the globe.
The 2011 expo opened on September 15 and will close on September 25. This year's expo attracted over 900 exhibitors from 30 countries, including some marquee names such as Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Renault, Fiat and Peugeot. It had something for every one — limousines, big and smaller muscular sports utility vehicles, large and small sedans, large hatchbacks and cute little cars. Each car maker had a concept or two, which looked futuristic and some close to production.
The auto show had a separate segment on electric vehicles; some of these small yet innovative cars could hit the streets sooner than one can possibly imagine.
The mega event also had a fair share of representation of bikes from the stables of Triumph, BMW and Honda. A few other manufacturers also showcased electric bikes.
Despite the general economic slowdown, the automotive companies are optimistic about the future. The show also had some of the carmakers looking at small cars from a fresh perspective.
There was an exclusive preview for media professionals on September 13-14.
