“If you experience the ‘Heavenly Bed' that Westin Hotels offer in its hospitality chain across the globe, you would love to own one at your home,” says Mr Stephane Fabregoul, General Manager, The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace.

“Globally, Westin has sold over 30,000 such beds, and we now offer them in India.”

The acclaimed bed, which is offered to guests of this Starwood group hotel, was launched in 1999.

Mr Fabregoul claims the bed has not only attracted customers to come again, but has made many of them to ask if they could have such a bed in their homes.

“This has triggered us to offer them (the beds) to customers, and there has been no looking back ever since,” he says.

The 10-layered bed is specially designed for Westin and sourced from Europe. “We go to their homes and set the bed up and train the maid on how to make this special bed,” he said.

Priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, the package includes a bed with mattress, two bed sheets and pillows.

So how different is the bed from what others offer?

“The best way to know that is to try it,” says Mr Fabregoul, but cautions: “and you won't like to get out of it.”

The experience has been similar at every market where Westin has a presence. “We have begun to offer the beds in India at Hyderabad,” he says.

Heavenly Bed features a no-flip 13-inch pillow-top mattress using patented pocket coil springs. These coil springs, made of heavy gauge steel, are pre-compressed and placed in non-allergic fabric pockets. The mattress follows the changing profile of the person on the bed. As opposed to about 200 springs used by most traditional mattresses, this has over 800 springs.

Like test drives, maybe Westin should allow a test nap.
