In a clear sign of succession, TVS Motor Co has appointed 25-year-old Sudarshan Venu as Joint MD. Sudarshan’s appointment, which comes three days after his wedding, is effective from Wednesday.
He will work under the guidance of his father, Chairman and Managing Director Venu Srinivasan, according to a TVS Motor release.
Sudarshan, who graduated with Honours after pursuing the Jerome Fisher Programme in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Science in Economics from the Wharton School. He completed his Master’s in International Technology Management from the Warwick Manufacturing Group, at the University of Warwick, UK.
He is a whole-time Director of the company and had joined it in December 2011 as a Vice-President. Sudarshan joins a list of NextGen members of the TVS family who are at the helm in group companies or in senior management roles (see graphic below) .
TVS Motor also announced that Lakshmi Venu, Sudarshan’s sister, has been made a non-executive director. She will serve as the woman director on the Board, in compliance with the Companies Act and Listing Agreement.
