With the third generation stepping into the business, Apollo Hospitals has set up a family council to provide guidelines for the organisation.

These guidelines will define the responsibilities of individuals and also chart a growth strategy for the business.

The council comprises family members and is headed by Chairman Prathap C. Reddy.

“It will look into the values of Apollo, its heritage and come out with norms that ensure good governance, business growth, patient trust, working environment and fair shareholder returns,” said Sangita Reddy, Executive Director – Operations.

Values, practices

As the third generation enters the business, it is important to document the group’s values and practices, she said.

“The family council is in its formulation stage and the guidelines are being discussed and captured. We need to reset our agenda and define our focus areas. We will soon come out with a growth plan three years forward.”

The second generation comprises Prathap Reddy’s four daughters – Preetha (Managing Director), Suneeta (Joint MD), Sangita and Shobana (Executive Director – New Initiatives).

There are ten grand-children in the family; the youngest is 14 years old. Two members of the third generation have assumed full-time roles in the organisation.

Preetha Reddy’s son, Karthik Reddy, specialises in finance.

He has earlier worked in the project management office of McKinsey.

Sindoori Reddy, daughter of Suneeta Reddy, was responsible for setting up the children’s hospital.
