German premium carmaker BMW announced on Thursday that in March it had delivered 1,027 units to customers in India, the highest ever in a month by a luxury carmaker in the country. Sales were led by the 5 Series (380 units) and 3 Series (305 units) sedans, followed by the X1 crossover (213 units). The company, a leader in its segment for the past two years, has delivered a total of 2,147 cars in the first three months of 2011. “The new 5 Series has contributed tremendously to our success story and is the largest selling luxury sedan in its segment. As the market leader in the Indian luxury car segment, I am convinced that we are well-positioned for a very promising future,” said Dr Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW India.
