BSH Bosch plans to set up Rs 479 cr unit in TN

BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgerate GmbH, a leading manufacturer of home appliances in Europe, plans to invest Rs 479.27 crore in setting up a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu.

The German company through its subsidiary, BSH Household Appliances Manufacturing, has requested the State Government to allot 42 acres of land at Sipcot Industrial Park in Pillaipakkam for setting up the plant to manufacture home appliances.

Employment

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, on Friday presented the Letter of Allotment of land to the company's Zonal Manager, Mr V.K. Viswanathahan, according to a State Government press release.

The facility will provide employment to 2,000 people.

The German group stemmed from a joint venture set up in 1967 between Robert Bosch GmbH (Stuttgart) and Siemens AG (Munich) and posted annual sales of €9 billion in the year 2010. The group operates 41 factories in 13 countries in Europe, US, Latin America and Asia.

Together with a global network of sales and customer service firms, the group is today made up of about 70 companies in 46 countries, with a total workforce of nearly 43,000 people, according to information available in the company's Web site.
