FMK, Poland and Bevcon Wayors have joined hands to make special conveyor products to meet the needs of power and the mining and mineral sector.

The 350 million euro Polish major also plans to launch India-made products in their country as well as neighbouring European nations by March 2011. FMK (Financing & Manufacturing & KnowHow Ltd) is a 30-year-old design and engineering firm with a global presence.

Mr Jan Czechowski, Senior Vice-President, FMK Poland said, under the agreement components and equipment for wagon tipplers, stacker-reclaimers (which are used in coal handling to iron ore) will be manufactured at the Hyderabad-based Bevcon Wayors' facilities.

In addition to meeting the needs of medium sized power plants to begin with, a buyback arrangement has also been made to target Poland's domestic market. Poland plans to invest in the creation of 40,000 MW of power based on coal (which it has in abundance) in the near term, Mr Czechowski said.

Core industries

These equipment help core sector industries to manage their bulk materials like core, iron ore and limestone efficiently.

For example, a Stacker-Reclaimer can stock and reclaim bulk material up to a height of 70 metres.

This helps in saving space and capital investment.

In the case of small power plants they help in stacking coal for more time; this enables them to tide over problems that they face due to shortages caused by supply disruptions or strikes, Mr P Suneel Lakshman, Managing Director of the Rs 150-crore company, which is into bulk material handling and processing solutions, explained.

“The agreement is for the long-term and after a year we want to set up a joint venture company. Efforts are on to participate in big contracts in Indonesia and Iran where FMK is participating,” Mr Czechowski said.
