CCI order in Coal India case expected

The Competition Commission of India is expected to issue the order in the case against Coal India Ltd. The panel’s Chairman, Ashok Chawla, during the deliberations of the third meeting of the Eminent Persons Advisory Group said the case in respect of the car manufacturers is also at a final stage. The advisory group meeting was attended by Deepak S. Parekh-Chairman HDFC, V.N. Kaul-former CAG and others.

Chawla apprised the group about the activities undertaken by CCI since the last meeting in January. He informed that there has been an increase in the number of cases filed before CCI in the recent past. As against 47 cases in the first seven months of the calendar year 2012, 70 cases have been filed in the same period this year marking an increase of around 50 per cent.
