Once the Haldia Thermal Power Plant (2X300 MW) becomes operational in December, CESC Ltd may explore phase out its age-old small plants, a senior official said. CESC Ltd is the flagship company of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. Currently, two of CESC’s generating stations — Titagarh and Cossipore — are over 25 years old. The two plants have an installed capacity of 340 MW between them. The Haldia unit will be inaugurated by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, later this month.
