RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group flagship firm, CESC Ltd, will commission its Haldia power plant on November 26. To be inaugurated by the West Bengal Chief Minsiter, Mamata Banerjee, the Rs 4,600 crore project will have a 600 MW capacity.
According to Sanjiv Goenka, Group Chairman, the first phase of 300 MW will be made inaugurated later this month. The second phase will be operational over the next 4 to months.
“We are mostly on schedule,” he told reporters adding that post the plant becoming operational CESC’s total capacity is expected to rise to 2,500 MW.
The plant will cater to CESC's own consumers in Kolkata and the suburbs.
CESC shares closed at Rs 713.35, up by 0.83 per cent, at the BSE on Thursday.
