The Amarkantak thermal plant of Lanco Infratech is likely to face difficulty in generation of power with South Eastern Coalfields Ltd, a constituent of Coal India Limited, deciding to stall supplies.
This move comes in the backdrop of Lanco Infratech failing to enter a power purchase agreement with the State distribution company. This is mandatory for firm coal supplies.
Instead, Lanco has entered into supply pacts with two power trading companies, including PTC for supply of power generated from the thermal power plant.
The company was able to secure about 65-70 per cent of requirement from South Eastern fields.
The Chairman of CIL, Mr S. Narsing Rao, in an interaction with a business channel has confirmed that the supplies to Lanco Amarkantak project could be stalled as they are yet to sign up for power purchase agreements.
The Amarkantak project is located near Pathadi village in Korba-Champa highway of Chhattisgarh.
