Consumers Association of India (CAI) a voluntary organisation to create consumer awareness is conducting a ‘Know Your Silk' campaign supported by the Silk Board, Cooptex and the Department of Handlooms, Tamil Nadu.
The campaign being organised between February 11 and 15 was sparked by the CAI's observation that customers are not adequately aware of silk and are over charged for silk-like materials, according to a press release from CAI.
The Silk Mark Organisation of India of the Silk Board support silk producers and certifies products with ‘SILK MARK' hologram. The demonstration and awareness programmes were conducted in five locations across the city on ways to identify silk and to maintain silk textiles.
The campaign was inaugurated on February 11 by Mr C. Muthukumaraswamy, Secretary, Department of Handlooms and Textiles.
