Dalmia Bharat Ltd today said it has acquired 33.14 lakh shares of group company Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries for about Rs 6.34 crore through open market transactions.
With this share purchase, shares of Dalmia Bharat, which is one of the promoters of Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries, rose from 5.24 per cent to 9.34 per cent.
In a filing to the BSE, Dalmia Bharat Ltd said it had acquired 30,55,045 shares on January 4, 2012 at Rs 19.10 a piece, through open market transactions, thereby increasing its stake from 5.24 per cent to 9.02 per cent.
In another communique to the BSE, the company said that it had acquired 2,59,761 shares of Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries for Rs 19.26 a piece further increasing its stake from 9.02 per cent to 9.34 per cent.
For the quarter ended September 30, Dalmia Bharat’s stake in Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries stood at 4.89 per cent.
In September last year, Dalmia Bharat Ltd, earlier known as Dalmia Bharat Enterprises Ltd, had announced that it will acquire 55 lakh shares of Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries at a price not exceeding 19.5 apiece.
The company said it wants to acquire 55 lakh shares through open market triggering an open offer as per SEBI regulations.
Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries in a filing to the BSE said the date of the open offer has been rescheduled to January 14, 2013 against the earlier date of November 1, 2012.
