Hinduja Group-owned Defiance Technologies is setting up its third development centre in Bangalore. The new centre will focus on emerging technologies such as mobility and social media, integrated with enterprise solutions, Mr Subu D. Subramanian, the company's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said.

The company will also set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for mobility and a CoE for social media at the new centre. “We will have a Mobile Solutions Labs at the CoE so that the customer can walk in and experience their mobile connected to the enterprise,” Mr Subramanian said.

From what we hear from our customers, new technology is not external to the enterprise anymore — it is internal. Companies want to know how their consumers are reacting to them — and they get the information from social media, Mr Subramanian pointed out.

The two CoEs apart, the company will also focus on developing industry-specific solutions templates, such as auto ancillaries. The company, which is a product development partner for SAP, plans to set up an Aerospace Design Lab in Bangalore to take up aerospace parts, Mr Subramanian said.

Defiance, which currently has about 500 employees, plans to double the headcount this financial year in Bangalore, as it also plans to expand its offices in the city. The hires will, for the first time, include many freshers, Mr Subramanian said. The company expects the Bangalore centre to strengthen its presence in the enterprise space, the segment from which it currently earns 60 per cent of its revenues.
