Every year April 24 is observed as DSP Durgapur Steel Plant Day at Durgapur. No exception this year. On this day in 1960, the first ingot was cast from liquid steel in the steel melting shop of DSP.
Addressing a function held in the plant on Sunday, Mr P.K. Bajaj, CEO, DSP said, “This is a significant day for DSP and we must respectfully remember those who are no more but contributed enormously to help DSP reach what it is today”.
Since inception, many people have laid down their lives for the plant. Floral tributes were paid to their memory the Workers' Memorial, according to a DSP release.
