Gamesa Wind Turbines, Indian subsidiary of Gamesa, will supply turbines to Pawan Danavi of Sri Lanka.
Pawan Danavi, with focus on wind power, is a subsidiary of LTL Holdings, one of the largest utilities in the island nation.
Apart from being the main independent power producer operating both thermal and renewable energy-based power plants of over 450 MW, LTL Holdings is into manufacturing of power-distribution components, project promotion, and engineering, procurement and construction projects.
The wind farm project of 10.2-MW installed capacity will have 12 of Gamesa's class-3 turbines, which will be delivered by the third quarter of 2011. Pawan Danavi, which has entered into a power-purchase agreement with Ceylon Electricity Board for a 20 years, will own and operate the 10.2-MW plant inside the Kalpitiya peninsula.
In India, the average cost for a MW of wind power is about Rs 6 crore.
