Public sector defence major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has introduced a grievance redressal mechanism for bidders in its procurement process.
Speaking after inaugurating HAL’s second global vendors’ meet, R.K. Tyagi, HAL Chairman, said: “The company is streamlining its procurement process, particularly on imports, and (will) adopt best global practices. We, at HAL, are introducing a grievance redressal mechanism where bidders aggrieved by any decision can make an application to the redressal committee at divisional and complex levels.”
About 110 vendors, nearly half of them from abroad, attended the meet. In 2012-13, HAL had made major purchases from 566 suppliers from 27 countries, including 270 from India. The company also reviewed its purchase procedures and now has a revised purchase manual besides an online bill tracking system.
