HDFC Bank is open to providing financial support to set up more blood storage centres in the country, its Managing Director, Aditya Puri, has said. The private sector lender has, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, already helped set up five blood storage centres in five States — Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Jammu & Kashmir. The bank also plans to take its blood donation drive to more and more locations, some of which do not have adequate infrastructure for storage. HDFC Bank claimed it had created a Guinness World Record by organising the largest single-day blood donation (multiple venues) drive with 61,902 participants.
