HiLite Builders Pvt Ltd, which has been developing property since 2003, is gearing up with its latest project – HiLite City — which included a one lakh sq ft shopping mall in Kozhikode, which is expected to be completed by 2013.

The total project cost for the project is to the tune of Rs 600 crore and of this, the investment for shopping mall alone would be Rs 350 crore. When completed, the HiLite mall would be the first to introduce some of the premium brands such as the retail chain Lifestyle, the global brand Spar, Cinepolis, the biggest multiplex chains in the world and Amoeba, the leisure and entertainment group in Kerala.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr P. Sulaiman, Chairman and Managing Director and Mr M.A. Mehaboob, Director, pointed out that the shopping mall would have a total built-up area of one million sq ft with 200+ branded retail outlets, 3-star business hotel, 8-screen multiplex, food courts, convention/expo hall etc.

The HiLite City is being designed as the first of its kind integrated township in the State spread over 15.6 acres and the project comprises residential (400 luxury apartments, commercial (one million sq ft) and retail spaces (one million sq ft).

According to promoters, the mall culture is catching up in the State with Kozhikode emerging as the leader having Focus Mall, the first shopping mall in Kerala to the credit of HiLite group. Kozhikode is ranked second best city in India to reside in considering parameters such as health, education, environment, safety and public facilities.

The city is also ranked 11th among Tier II cities in terms of job creation by Assocham. They pointed out that Kerala is witnessing an unprecedented growth in retail culture following the latest trend of expanding the industry to Tier II and III cities.

Within nine years of operations, the company had completed eight projects in Kozhikode at an investment of Rs 250 crore which included residential apartments and commercial and retail spaces.
