Riding on the back of higher sales, Emami Ltd posted 21 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 115 crore for the quarter ended December 31 against Rs 95 crore in the same period last year.
Net sales grew by 21 per cent to Rs 549 crore.
Shares of Emami closed at Rs 575.05, down by 1.54 per cent on the BSE on Friday.
On a sequential basis, profits increased by almost 95 per cent from Rs 59 crore during the July-September 2012 quarter.
During the period under review, Emami’s domestic business grew by nearly 22 per cent to Rs 465 crore.
The growth came on the back of higher sales from its key brands including Boroplus Antiseptic cream, Zandu and Fair & Handsome and the healthcare division comprising OTC, ethical and generic products, said a company statement.
“With winter setting in early this year, consumer demand has been strong during this quarter which helped in maintaining a robust top-line growth. With sustained sales momentum, judicious price increases and effective cost management initiatives, we have been able to moderate the impact of high input costs and inflationary pressures,” Naresh H. Bhansali, CEO – Finance, Strategy & Business Development of Emami, said in the statement.
