Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, has planted 150,000 saplings near its manufacturing unit in Rajasthan. The company already houses more than 12 lakh plantations in and around its business locations.The company’s plantation drive aligns with the flagship project of the Rajasthan State Government’s “Green Rajasthan”.
The company is maintaining and taking care of these plants with the support of the district administration and local community, the company said in a release. As part of its green energy initiative, the company produces about 25 MW through the waste heat recovery process. It is one of the largest producers of wind power of 275 MW, which is registered under the Clean Development Mechanism of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and is entitled for carbon credits.
