This is the week were companies seem to be closing the lid on their labour troubles.
After Maruti Suzuki, Honda Motorcycle on Wednesday relented to union demands by re-instating the two workers it had ‘suspended pending enquiry’ at its Manesar plant on July 6.
Mutual dialogue
The suspension order has been withdrawn after mutual dialogue and agreement between the HMSI Employees Union and Management to ensure that industrial harmony and discipline prevails in the organisation, a joint statement of the company and the plant union said.
“This was a matter of managing internal discipline. Both the said employees are back to work after appropriate disciplinary action has been taken,” Harbhajan Singh, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs & Industrial Relations at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said.
The two workers, Jaibeer and Naresh Yadav, had been suspended on disciplinary grounds after the alleged assault of a company manager.
Ashok Yadav, President of HMSI Employees Union, added that the internal matters would be resolved through “mutual discussion and spirit of co-operation”.
The company and the worker union are also in the midst of a new wage settlement agreement that is expected to be in effect for three years.
