JSW Steel Ltd reported a 15 per cent rise in crude steel output for August at 7.63 lakh tonnes against 6.64 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period last year.
The production of rolled flat products was up 6 per cent at 5.14 lakh tonnes against 4.84 lakh tonnes in corresponding last period. However, the growth in output of rolled long products was much higher at 19 per cent at 1.48 lakh tonnes for the period.
For the first five months of the current fiscal, JSW Steel’s crude steel production grew 22 per cent over the corresponding last period. The JSW Steel scrip was marginally trading higher in the intra-day trade at Rs 657 on the BSE on Thursday.
JSW Steel, which recently merged an associate firm JSW Ispat with itself, has emerged the largest steel maker in India with an installed capacity of 14.3 million tonnes overtaking the state run entity SAIL.
JSW Steel, which operates a 11 million tonne plant in Bellary, is seen benefitting from the recent Supreme Court order that lifted the ban on iron ore mining in select mines of Karnataka.
