Lanco Infra to develop coal mine for SAIL

Lanco Infratech Limited has bagged the mandate to be a mine developer and operator for Tesra coal mine of Steel Authority of India Limited.

The infrastructure company has successfully bid for the development, mining and operations of Tesra opencast project and development and associated captive power plant.

The company has received letter of acceptance from SAIL, it informed the stock exchanges today.

According to the statement, the bid envisages coal mining in the Tesra opencast mine project located in Jharia Coalfield of Dhanbad district in Jharkhand State.

It is estimated that the mine has geographical reserves of approximately 250 million tonne. The project also envisages setting up of a coal washery, development and operation of captive power plant. The SAIL power plant will have a capacity of 200-300 mw. The project is based on secondary products from the Tesra washery.
