MOL Synergy India, a joint venture for training seafarers, has opened a modern simulation centre in Chennai, according to a press release from the company.
The joint venture between MOL, a 130-year-old ship operator, and Synergy, a ship management group, has established the MOL Synergy learning centre, a Marine Advanced Simulation Training facility with full mission simulators for ship manoeuvring, engine room and liquid cargo simulators for oil, chemical, LPG and LNG, and electronic chart display and information system — both generic and type specific, the release said.
The release quoting Consul General of Japan in Chennai, Masanori Nakano, who inaugurated the facility, said the training centre is another milestone in cooperation between India and Japan. It is the first of its kind between companies in shipping to offer training for ship operations.
MOL is one of the largest ship operator in the world and Synergy operates a fleet of more than 100 vessels with over 3,000 Indian seafarers.
