The joint venture company of MRPL with the Netherland-based Shell B.V. - Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels and Services Pvt Ltd - is planning to supply ATF (aviation turbine fuel) to the Mumbai and Delhi airports, according to Mr U.K. Basu, Managing Director of MRPL.
Addressing a post-AGM press conference in Mangalore on Saturday, Mr Basu said MRPL's joint venture company with the Netherlands-based Shell B.V. was supplying fuel to the Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Kozhikode, and Ahmedabad airports.
“We are planning to enter Mumbai and Delhi airports too ,” he said. “We have requested authorities there for the open access system (which is currently unavailable at these two airports) so that we can supply fuel there,” he said.
The venture made a profit of Rs 10.96 crore during 2010-11 as against Rs 4.53 crore in the previous fiscal. It fuelled 12,674 flights (11,106 flights) during 2010-11.

Asked about MRPL's plan to open exclusive retail outlets , he said the company had a business plan ready to open 122 new outlets in the first phase over the next one to two years with an estimated investment of Rs 87 crore, provided it was economically viable .
