Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd (MNAL) has launched its range of heavy commercial vehicles in Kerala.
The sale of the vehicles — ranging from 25 tonnes to 40 tonnes and comprising rigid truck, multi-axle truck, tipper and tractor trailer — was launched here on Monday along with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art dealership of Sundaram Motors of TVS Group.
Mr Nalin Mehta, Managing Director, MNAL, said on the occasion that the new series of heavy vehicles pointed to the changing profile of the country's trucking industry. In a short span of time, over 1,300 of these vehicles had been sold across the country and the company was getting a large number of bulk and repeat orders.
Mr Mehta said that the company planned to launch more than 100 dealerships 24 months. Also, MNAL would draw on the vast pool of Mahindra and Mahindra auto and tractor channel partners to use as an extended network for servicing customers needs. The company had created 751 services points in the country and the number continued to grow, he added.
The company also flagged off a mobile workshop, which, according to Mr Mehta, is yet another first in the trucking industry. The facility is meant to provide ‘anywhere, anytime' on-road assistance to the customers. Besides, the company has a round-the-clock call centre, branded Now, which is manned by trained service experts. In addition, nearly 430 roadside assistance centres are also in place to provide service.
Mr Mehta said MNAL was exploring the possibility of exporting the new range of HCVs to South Africa.
