Ms Mallika Srinivasan has taken over as Chairman of Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd and TAFE Motors and Tractors Ltd, of the Amalgamations group.
She succeeds her father A. Sivasailam, who passed away on January 12. She will continue to be the Chief Executive of the two companies.
The 51-year-old Ms Srinivasan, who has a graduate MBA from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and an MA in Econometrics from the University of Madras, joined Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd as a trainee in October 1981. She worked in various positions in the company, including as Executive Assistant to the Chairman and Managing Director, General Manager (Planning and Coordination), Vice-President and Director, before becoming its Vice-Chairman.
In May 2005, TAFE bought the Eicher group's tractor business through TAFE Motors and Tractors Ltd, a company floated for that purpose. Both TAFE and TAFE Motors have a combined turnover of about Rs 4,750 crore.
Ms Srinivasan has been involved with various industry and trade bodies, including as President of the Tractor Manufacturers' Association. She has also taken over as Chairman of The United Nilgiri Tea Estates Co Ltd, another Amalgamations group company.
