Marvel's ‘ The Avengers' has become the fourth highest Hollywood grosser in India, raking in box office collections of Rs 47 crore till date. The movie which opened on 27 April in India, a week prior to its US release, is still going strong, and could inch up to third spot – just after Avatar and Titanic 3D . The Avengers was the widest release ever for a Hollywood movie in India, beamed across over 800 screens in 3D, IMAX and 2D, and in four languages — English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Worldwide, the movie has joined the Billion Dollar Box Office club in 19 days, becoming the first Marvel Studios film and the fifth Walt Disney Studios release to reach this milestone. “The success of ‘ The Avengers' in India is a demonstration of how the same aggressive marketing and distribution strategies we adopt to release our big ticket Hindi movies can be applied to Hollywood movies as well,” said Mr Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director - Studios, Disney UTV.
